The 2009 conference will take place in Los Angeles, California.
For the fifth year in a row, global senior researchers, industry leaders and policy makers will gather at the International Nanotechnology Conference on Communication and Cooperation. In 2009, Los Angeles, California will be the communal ground for in-depth discussions and technical sessions on a variety of issues related to the future of international collaboration in nanotechnologies.
In order to further strengthen the continuous dialogue between Japan, Europe and the United States, broad regional overviews will be combined with detailed presentations from each of the regions.
Technical sessions will highlight today's state of affairs and tomorrow's challenges and bottlenecks regarding various related domains in nanoelectronics and explore the links with related areas, such as biotechnology, advanced materials development, microsystems and photonics.
A topical session will highlight the economical and societal implications of nanotechnology. The INC5 conference will undoubtedly be one of the key events for policy makers, industry leaders and senior researchers to attend in 2009, in order to stay informed of the developments in major research programs worldwide.
VISION
- The electronics industry has been the major enabler of the computer, communication and consumer industries throughout the 20th century.
- They have propelled the growth of the economy
- Most of the building blocks of these industries will reach fundamental limits by the end of the next decade
- It is of fundamental importance that these limits are overcome in the next 10 years.
INC OBJECTIVES
1. Make overview presentations of regional Nanotechnology programs supported by the organizers including:
- Government
- Industry
- Academia
2. Include a theme on Nano-electronics in each conference
3. Foster communications and cooperation among Nano-electronics initiatives and other fields, e.g. chemistry, opto/display electronics, biology etc.
4. Include presentations and posters on relevant nanotechnology subjects from other regions (i.e. non organizers) as submitted by request and subject to availability, to stimulate additional communications and cooperation
